Author’s Note: I cannot find any blog notes from 2012 about the Summer Palace, near Beijing. I do remember that we did a boat cruise. In addition, I remember several Chinese men being extremely taken with my beard and wanting to have their picture taken with me. The pictures that follow are of Kunming Lake which is where The Summer Palace is located.

“Yougshou Zhai (Longevity Chamber)
This Chamber along with the courtyard was built adjacent to The Hall of Happiness and Longevity (sleeping quarters for Empress Dowager Cixi. Popularly know as the “Chief’s Courtyard”, it served as the living quarters for the Chief Court Eunich at the end of the Qing Dynasty.
