South America & the Panama Canal 2016

The Panama Canal cuts through Panama thereby saving ships the journey ether of going South to the bottom of South America or north to the Northwest Passage traversing the Canadian Arctic.
Its’ lock system lifts ships 85 feet (26 meters) to the main elevation of the canal and down again at the opposite end.
